Suggested time: 10–15 minutes Write about games you played when you were little. What were they? Who did you play with? Where did you play? Did you win? Lose? Cheat? What was your favorite game?

  Write about a game you like to play. What do you like about it? What kind of game is it? Why do you play it? What’s the objective? Are you good at this game?

Photo Script — exercise

  Write the script for a scene from a photograph. Include a major character and one or two others. Imagine, for the main, viewpoint character in the scene: what she or he wants or doesn’t want — desperately, what she’s most afraid of, and what will make her most memorable to the reader.
