Another love poem I adore is by Quncy Troupe: “The Other Night.” It begins:
the other brandy, sweetened
night, we dreamed we
was kissing so hard & good, you
sucked my tongue right on out
my trembling mouth
Woah! This poem bedazzles the senses and frazzles sensibility. The very beginning lets you know you’re leaving Kansas. And the ending is right up there with any of Neil Gaiman’s fantasies.
& eye had to sew it back in
in order to tell you about it
I think the less said, the better.
I love this poem.
