An epithalamion is a poem or song written to honor a bride and bridegroom and celebrate their marriage. Erica Jong’s poem “The Eggplant Epithalamion” was inspired by the saying “A Turk won’t marry a woman unless she can cook eggplant at least a hundred ways.”
